Property no. 3461776
Holiday home for max. 8 persons
Sancellas, Majorca, (Heartland of Majorca), Spain
S'Hord Verd is an exceptionally well-restored, unique Villa Rústica, whose unique and timeless architecture will appeal to those with a taste for exceptional design choices. The detached villa sits on a 43,000 m² plot of land that is almost completely surrounded by fields. The magnificent view in all directions is in no way compromised by the tall palm trees and other trees that grow close to the house - you will feel like you are in an oasis in the countryside. Simply take one of the property's eight sun loungers out onto the expansive lawn under the shady trees and enjoy the idyllic landscape all around. The huge raised pool with a total area of 80 m² is located directly in front of the house. Access to the pool area is either via a stone staircase from the front garden or via a bridge leading down from the upper floor of the villa. On the opposite side of the pool to the villa, there is a large sun terrace surrounded by stone pillars and steel railings, with space for several ergonomically designed aluminium sun loungers. The terrace areas adjacent to the house also show signs of originality in both their design and their spaciousness. A little further outside the villa is a spacious seating area, which is lined with trees on one side and spanned by a garden roof that can be covered with bamboo mats to provide shade. Out here there is a long dining table with a concrete surface supported by hand-forged metal poles and flanked by two long wooden benches a lovely place to eat at any time. From here you can enjoy an uninterrupted view across the fields to the animals grazing in the distance, a nice reminder that this region still has a predominantly rural character. You'll also find an iron barbecue designed and built by the experienced owners, so you can come here and cook your dinner in style.
On the way back to the house from the large covered area, the first thing you come across is a triangular terrace that extends into the garden directly in front of the living room. Here, two antique metal lattice benches, over 80 years old and with a timeless, spartan design, stand at right angles. And if you need them, there are also two retractable awnings that can be extended. A third outdoor area is located directly under the covered terrace by the house. Here there is another dining room set with a chic wood and metal design. As you stand in front of the villa, you can't help but admire the authentic and original natural stonework. You can also appreciate the use of other elements such as smooth wooden beams and flat glass to introduce some very modern tones without detracting from the traditional character of the building.
When this old villa was renovated 30 years ago, the redesign required the elaborate use of glass panes throughout the house. It is no longer common to see such bold and elaborate restorations using timeless materials such as glass, wood, stone and concrete; in a way, this building is a perfect example of retro design. The rooms have been opened up and in the living room an entire wall has actually been removed and replaced with huge panes of glass, allowing light to flood in and illuminate this wonderfully authentic space. Between the original stone walls, an incredibly cosy living space was created with glazed concrete floors draped with cowhides. A wide step was added leading into an open-plan dining area with a fireplace nestled in the corner between the stone walls. To brighten up this area, glass panels were installed around the entrance to the building, leaving the antique solid wood doors open and flooding the dining area with sunlight. The rustic wooden dining table is complemented by six wooden chairs for an organic retro design. An archway leads into the kitchen, which is dominated by sleek, modern white cabinets and appliances. In the centre of the room is an island with a bar on the worktop, creating a sense of openness and making this kitchen another social space. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a microwave, ceramic hob, oven, large fridge freezer and dishwasher for a comfortable, self-sufficient holiday. Behind the kitchen there is a hallway and a staircase. The hallway leads to two of the house's four bedrooms and a shared bathroom. As you have to go through one of the bedrooms to get to the other, this area is ideal for parents with children. Both bedrooms have French doors leading to the garden. The other two bedrooms are located on the upper floor. One of them is particularly large and also has some comfortable armchairs; the second has a French balcony that lets in plenty of fresh air. The beds are also French-style; three of them measure 1.60 x 2 metres (three bedrooms) and one is 1.60 x 1.80 metres. The two bathrooms are quite modern: One is tiled in white and has a bathtub, the other has a floor-level shower, an interesting natural stone washbasin and other individual details. Here, in this immaculately maintained and completely original villa, you can enjoy a piece of Mallorcan history brought to life by an artful balance between modern and traditional elements.
The villa is located approx. 1 km from the centre of Sencelles, which can be reached quickly via a rather quiet country road that can sometimes be heard from the property, depending on the wind. Sencelles itself is just one of several villages in the municipality of the same name. These tiny villages are among the last places where you can still find the traditional architecture of the Mallorcan countryside. On this fertile plain in the centre of the island, the so-called Plà de Mallorca, the cultivation of corn, almonds and figs dominated the local economy. Even today, fig cultivation is still an important economic sector. Wine growing also plays an important role here and you should definitely try some of the local wines when you return to the villa after a trip to the beaches on the south coast or a detour to the island's capital Palma. We at Fincallorca wish you a relaxing holiday in your villa, the architectural gem S'Hord Verd. The architecturally appealing Villa S'Hord Verd is located 1 km north of the small village of Sencelles in the centre of the island. Walk into town to buy groceries and other daily necessities, especially on Wednesdays when the weekly market is held in Plaça Nova. For longer shopping and sightseeing trips, the island's capital Palma is only around 30 minutes away by car. Continue in the same direction to visit some of the fine sandy beaches along the south coast of the island, including C'an Pere Antoni and Ciutat Jardí.
